Thirty Days of First Lines: Day 17

A little late with yesterday’s post, which gives me the chance to include one of the greatest of first lines, from the late Gabriel García Márquez‘s 100 Years of Solitude.

“Many years later, as he faced the firing squad, Colonel Aureliano Buendía was to remember that distant afternoon when his father took him to discover ice.”
